HOW IT WORKS
The pau d’arco tree thrives in the rainforests of Brazil. Unlike many surrounding trees, it does not develop fungal growth, despite growing in one of the most humid environments on Earth. This unique characteristic is believed to be linked to lapachol, a naturally occurring compound found in pau d’arco. Traditionally, this compound has been associated with immune system support.
WHY PAU D’ARCO CAPSULES?
Pau d’arco has been used by various cultures for generations to support immune health in meaningful ways. Its active components, including lapachol, may offer valuable immune-supporting properties. Research suggests that pau d’arco extract may inhibit microbes by limiting their access to oxygen and energy needed for growth.
Harvesting pau d’arco is challenging but worthwhile. Its durable wood is highly valued as a building material, which has led to overharvesting. As a result, pau d’arco trees are now endangered and protected in Brazil. The government strictly regulates harvesting and requires permits for transporting, trading, or exporting any part of the tree.

THE STORY BEHIND PAU D’ARCO CAPSULES
Many indigenous communities highly valued this botanical for its benefits. Historical records indicate that the Incas, the Kallawayas, and other native South American cultures used pau d’arco for its healing properties.
The name “pau d’arco” is Portuguese for “bow tree,” reflecting the dense, rot-resistant wood traditionally used to make hunting bows. Its Latin name, Tabebuia heptaphylla, led to the nickname “taheebo,” and taheebo tea remains familiar throughout the region. The herb is also known as lapacho, likely referencing its lapachol content.
