Potassium chloride and magnesium phosphate are used for mineral supplementation.

P.C.M.P. combines potassium chloride and magnesium phosphate in a single tablet. When prescribed by a healthcare professional, it is generally well tolerated at the recommended dose and may be prescribed for infants, children, pregnant and lactating women, and the elderly.

The easy-to-swallow tablet can be halved or crushed to allow for low-dose prescribing for infants and children.

PRESCRIBING INFORMATION

  • Chloride: Maintains hydration, fluid balance, and, together with potassium, supports gastric acid production.

  • Magnesium and phosphate: Vital for energy production, and together with potassium, are involved in muscle function and nerve conduction.

  • Potassium: Integral to the sodium-potassium pump, regulating neuromuscular excitability, electrochemical impulse transmission, and muscle contraction.

NEUROMUSCULAR FUNCTION

  • Magnesium stabilises neurons at the neuromuscular junction and influences neurotransmitter release.

  • Potassium and magnesium together support neuromuscular function, enabling proper muscle contraction and nerve signaling.

GASTROINTESTINAL FUNCTION

  • Potassium and chloride are essential for the production of gastric acid, supporting normal digestive function.

FLUID BALANCE

  • Potassium and chloride regulate water balance.

  • Potassium works with extracellular sodium to maintain osmotic pressure and assists the kidney in correcting fluid imbalances.

  • Chloride channels influence cellular water uptake and loss, regulating cell volume.

DOSAGE

  • Magnesium may reduce the absorption and efficacy of some drugs.

  • Administer P.C.M.P. at least 2 hours apart from tetracycline and quinolone antibiotics.
