HOW IT WORKS
While licorice is commonly known as a candy flavoring, its benefits extend far beyond taste. Licorice root has been used as a dietary and herbal remedy for thousands of years. Traditional herbalists have long valued it as a general tonic and for glandular support, as well as for supporting liver health.
In traditional Chinese herbal formulas, licorice is frequently used to balance other herbs and promote vitality. It is known for helping the body maintain overall balance—particularly beneficial for women who menstruate—and for supporting general well-being. Licorice root contains triterpenoid saponins, flavonoids, isoflavonoids, and other beneficial plant compounds.
WHY LICORICE ROOT?
Our licorice root is wild-crafted in a carefully selected region of Turkey. Skilled harvesters collect roots of optimal size, ranging from ¼ to 1 inch in diameter, while leaving the plant intact to ensure sustainable harvesting. This method allows the plants to continue producing for many years. Licorice root is highly valued for use as both a powder and a tea.
THE STORY BEHIND LICORICE ROOT
Licorice root was used by ancient Greeks and Romans for its health-supporting properties. Traditional Chinese Medicine has long relied on licorice to support respiratory, digestive, and reproductive health. Today, licorice grows widely throughout Europe and Asia.
Licorice root is also considered an adaptogen, offering energizing properties and providing support during times of occasional stress.
