How to Reclaim your Female Mojo

In the spirit of Valentine’s Day today, and the romantic traditions that surround this celebrated day, I thought I’d share with you the amazing benefits and actions of one of my favourite women’s herbs – Shatavari.

Shatavari is a traditional Indian (Ayurvedic) herb and is often referred to as the ‘Queen of Herbs’ because it is said to promote love and devotion.

In Hindu, the word Shatavari literally translates as “to possess a hundred husbands”

It is traditionally used throughout a woman’s entire reproductive life cycle because of its toning, nourishing, soothing and strengthening effects on the female reproductive system. It is especially effective for low libido at all stages and ages but has the benefit of modulating the supply of female hormones that usually become deficient during menopause (and for women who have had hysterectomies).
Shatavari also is used to soothe vaginal dryness, another typical symptom of the natural ageing process.

The Queen of Herbs

Shatavari (Asparagus racemosus) is a woody climber that grows throughout the tropical and sub-tropical parts of India and Bangladesh. The word ‘Asparagus’ originates from the Greek word for stalk or shoot, and relates to the appearance of the plant, which has a short root with numerous finger-like succulent tubers coming off it. There are over 300 species of Asparagus, and Shatavari (Asparagus racemosus) is not to be confused with the commonly consumed vegetable asparagus, which is Asparagus officinalis

Reclaim Your Female Mojo

The wisdom and traditional knowledge gained from the history of Shatavari use in Ayurvedic medicine coupled with evidence-based research, has shown the beneficial effects this herb can provide for females all over the world.

Not only is one of its main actions as a sexual tonic a great support for a flagging libido, but its properties assist with all areas of the female reproductive system acting as a tonic as well as assisting with menopausal symptoms.

Highly regarded in Ayurveda as an adaptogen herb and nerve tonic for women, Shatavari works to support both physical and mental wellbeing and assist with lowered energy.

No matter your age or stage in life, Shatavari is a valuable ally to nourish and support women as they navigate the pressures and stressors of everyday life.
