These ‘7 Steps’ are empowering women & men right now to fight back against advanced ageing. You see, ‘anti-ageing’ isn’t something you can find in a bottle. It’s not something to reduce, plump or pop, it requires a committed lifestyle solution.
Only once you step up and take control will you start to look and feel younger, get lean and fit, have a glowing complexion and un-bounding confidence… not to mention dramatically reducing the risks that come with ageing including chronic disease and illness.
Pinnacle of Health #1: Diet
Diet is not about counting kilojoules it’s about your approach.
Studies show that women & men who eat balanced diets not only look younger, but also have better skin overall. Foods rich in anti-oxidants not only help the body heal and boost the immune system, but they also help the skin’s cells remain healthy.
Just as importantly, losing excess kilos can instantly boost your overall health and take years off your appearance.
Your body burns 10% to 30% of the kilojoules you eat each day just by digesting your food! But not all foods are created equal. For example protein makes your metabolism work much harder than fats and carbohydrates PLUS with exercise it helps add lean muscle which in turn speeds up your metabolism even more. So ensuring enough protein in your diet is essential.
Some ‘Superfoods’ such as Chilli, Cinnamon, Grapefruit, Baked Beans and even raw Dark Chocolate in moderation can aid weight loss by filling you up and revving up your kilojoule burn.
If you’re having trouble or are unsure which foods are right for you, then seek out the advice of a professional nutritionist or naturopath.
Pinnacle of Health #2: Hydration
According to experts, 35% of skin ageing in those aged 20 – 70 is due to moisture levels and skin cells ability to self renew
To ensure maximum hydration, drink a minimum of 8 glasses of water (or herbal teas) daily and watch your energy and concentration increase significantly in the afternoons.
(And for those addicted to coffee or coke reduce these to a maximum of 2 cups per day). Something as simple as this can significantly combat both physical and mental fatigue.
Pinnacle of Health #3: Exercise
Exercise produces an opium-like substance that gives you a natural high and is one of the most effective ways to look younger, enjoy glowing skin and melt away excess fat.
No form of diet, or combination of pills will replace the absolute body workout that is given though 30 minutes of exercise every day.
It has been shown to improve mood, improve brain function, improve the body’s anti-oxidant defence mechanism, decrease pain and reduce depression.
It has also been shown to reduce the risks of Alzheimer’s disease, heart disease, diabetes and dementia.
It is not always easy to keep on track especially when trying to balance work and family commitments so consider investing in a personal trainer to customize you’re workout for maximum results in minimal time to suit your lifestyle and body type.
Pinnacle of Health #4: Stress Relief
At any age, stress is a part of life, but it’s actually doing a lot more harm than you may think.
In recent studies Scientists have revealed that chronic stress appears to hasten the shrivelling of the tips of the bundles of genes inside cells, which shortens their life span and speeds the body’s deterioration.
Our bodies work as a complete unit and ultimately what we think and feel is what we become over time. This also means that our minds have the strength and the ability to change our futures for the better if we make the choice to change.
When our mind, our body and our soul are aligned it empowers us to live optimally; to live fully and to live deliberately and ultimately to Live Better.
Managing stress by incorporating stress management strategies is integral to optimum ageing.
These are the first 4 big steps of my 7-step rejuvenating plan to think about and work on… not easy I know.
But just to be clear – there are no magic pills or quick fixes. If you value your health – how you feel, how you look, living with boundless energy and to your potential – then you must be prepared to take responsibility and change the way you live.
Change is hard because it pushes us out of our comfortable state. But if you want a different result, a different way of living then you can’t keep doing the same things you are doing now… it’s up to you!
Stay tuned… next week I’ll share my final 3 steps to Reverse the Symptoms of Advanced Ageing.
