How to Prepare for Great Winter Health

Autumn is finally upon us and our good friend Kirsten, from Casuarina Farm, describes Autumn as a ‘season of change and letting go. Many trees let their leaves fall understanding and embracing the notion that a time of rest is approaching. As full bloom has passed, it is now a wonderful time to nurture and support your body in preparation for Winter’.

The biggest challenge I see in-store for many is a tendency to gain a few kilos, experience lowered vitality and energy levels, and suffer from at least one viral infection in the cooler months.

The Shitake is a Japanese mushroom used in natural medicine to enhance the immune system and increase stamina and endurance. Lentinan, a polysaccharide in Shiitake is a widely recognised and respected compound to help strengthen the immune system.

Olea europea

Olea or more commonly known as Olive Leaf is hugely popular around the world, being used as a general health tonic, antioxidant and to help maintain a healthy immune system.
Antioxidants help protect the body by reducing the risk of cell damage from potentially harmful free radicals. These highly reactive chemicals may be generated by lifestyle factors such as excess dietary fats, pollutants, cigarette smoke and alcohol ingestion.

Prebiotics and Probiotics

A healthy gut is a major key to optimal health and wellbeing. There are proven strains of gut flora that boost resistance to infection. And considering your gut is responsible for 75% of your immunity it makes sense to have correctly balanced flora and an optimal and diverse microbiome.
