Goals & Aspirations for 2018

So 2018 is here and a happy New Year to all of you both here in Australia and around the world. We hope 2018 is a wonderful and joyous year for you all.

As most of us do at this time of year we have been giving some thought to what 2018 might hold for us and thinking about our goals and aspirations for the year ahead.
We are drawn to the notion of simplifying, slowing down and spending more time in the garden cultivating our fruit trees and veggie garden and planting some raspberry vines so we can have fresh raspberries – yum.

We would also like to read more books and do more writing as well as turn our focus to our new Wellness Coaching business, Live Better Wellness, to see if we can help more people to set and reach their goals for 2018 – to live a life aligned with their values

We don’t have any one big hiking adventure planned for 2018 but instead plan to have lots of mini hiking adventures throughout the year thus spending lots of weekends camping & hiking locally.
It is important for us to stay active and we both thrive on setting ourselves challenges and so in 2018 we have set ourselves the ambitious goal of walking 3,000kms over the year.
You may have heard of the UK challenge “Walk 1000 miles”. Well we have used this concept and set our own personal goal… it certainly will be a stretch for us as we have done the maths and realise just how many steps we have to do every day for the next 365 days to actually reach that goal!
But hey, we’re going to give it a go and see how it works out….what’s the worst that can happen?

We both have fitness trackers to measure how far we walk each day and we’ve prepared an excel spreadsheet to track our daily, weekly and monthly distances covered so that we can monitor our progress. We will keep you updated on our Life in the Slow Lane FaceBook Page as to how we are going and the challenges we face staying on track.

So who’s in?

If you’d like to join us on our 2018 adventure firstly set your own walking goal for the coming year… something that is a bit of stretch (a challenge) but still achievable. Then grab a calculator and work out how many kilometres you need to walk each day, each week and each month to achieve your goal.
We would be happy to send you the simple excel spreadsheet we have created so that you can easily and simply track your own progress.
Just email Mary at [email protected] and we will get it to you.

It would be great to hear from you about the goals you have set and the progress you are making towards those goals, whether they are walking goals or not – just leave us a comment on Life in the Slow Lane .

All the best for 2018
We’ll keep you posted, Mary & David
