‘Clean Living’ is a term that has been coined to encompass not only a diet-based movement but also looks at our lifestyle as a whole… something we subscribe to at Mammoth Health as we are passionate about incorporating our 7 core principles of Optimum Health.

The secret to Clean Living lies in its simplicity… a diet based around the notion of eating foods in their most natural state. This means eliminating (or at the very least minimising) the following:

● Processed foods
● Preservatives and additives
● Foods with added sugars
● Fast foods
● Foods with high levels of bad fats (i.e. trans fats & excess saturated fats)
● Refined grains and sugars

These foods are replaced with local, fresh, organic (if possible) fruit and vegetables, free-range and grass-fed meat and dairy, and nutrient-rich whole grains.

With 60% of Australians classified as overweight and the implications of this on increased metabolic disorders, diabetes, cancer and cardiovascular disease, a focus on weight control is important. But equally important is focusing on the underlining causes of weight gain – toxin overload, stress, poor digestion, excess sugar consumption, a compromised gut integrity and a lack of exercise.

Weight and body fat levels are but one piece of the puzzle that makes up our complete health and well-being. After fourteen years of being in the health and wellness industry, I have heard the many issues and struggles of those who are desperate to lose weight. It is understandable to ‘buy into’ the promise for a quick fix when all else has seemingly failed.

Many have had weight issues for most of their life, and essentially tried every diet, every magic pill, everything, it would seem, to try and lose weight. Most stick with the new promise for a few weeks and then fall off the wagon and blame themselves – the guilt, the self-loathing, the feeling of helplessness and despair – and their self-fulfilling prophecy of failure is reinforced.

And every time a new magic weight-loss pill or diet is released the cycle continues. Back on the wagon, I suspect to convince others (but mostly themselves) that they are trying and are taking control.

Mammoth Health’s Summer Ready 2014 program had been designed to aid elimination of toxins, fluid build-up and excess sugar molecules, regulate insulin production and optimise gut integrity. Your dietary habits will be assessed and overhauled and Kate will design an individual eating guide every 2 weeks for you whilst you’re on the program.
