Welcome to the first of our “Life in the Slow Lane” blog. These blogs will have a slightly different flavour to the others we send out - but will still subscribe to a vision of a more “balanced” and “healthy” life – something many of us strive for.
I decided to start sharing these blogs at least partly as a way to motivate both myself and Dave (hubby) to make some changes in our lives – and hopefully you will also be able to relate.
Like so many others we have increasingly found ourselves busier and busier with little time for anything it seems except work (and collapsing in front of the T.V. at night in an attempt to wind down before sleep and another full day ahead).
We both keep extremely busy with our jobs (which we both absolutely love and are very passionate about) but we have been wrestling with our “time-poor” lifestyle for some time because we miss the things we did together in the past… gardening, cooking, hiking, reading, camping, travelling and playing the odd game of golf.
Our fundamental problem is that both our jobs are at least partly about getting people to slow down and experience life more fully – but we seem to be having trouble taking our own advice. So this blog will be our attempt to document the things we do to try to rectify this. We will make some false starts I am sure - but hopefully we will be able to at least occasionally get off the merry-go-round to make sure we appreciate the things and the time we have.
I look forward to sharing our experiences with you and would love to hear your attempts of living life in the slow lane.
