A History of Healthy Alternatives

Mammoth Health has been offering healthy alternatives in Geelong for over 25 years. It started on North Valley Road as Mammoth Health and Bulk Foods back in the '70s and it provided the people of Geelong with quality whole foods .

Over the years, as people became more aware of the benefits of complementary medicine and the risks associated with chemicals, we increased our range of herbal and vitamin supplements; chemical free skin care and beauty products; hair dyes and cleaning products. Today, Mammoth Health continues to provide quality products, expert advice and naturopathic consultations as well as remedial therapy.

Mammoth Health's Naturopathic Clinic, which was established 6 years ago, offers clients a professional service with a naturopath who works with you to achieve wellness and optimum health.

Our Friendly, Experienced Staff
Mary Petherick
Mary has been the owner of Mammoth Health for the past eight years. Her professional background is in education where she taught children and later adults for ten years. In 1999 she started her Naturopathy degree at Melbourne College of Natural Medicine but taking over the business kept her very busy and she has had to defer her studies for now. Her passion is in using herbs, supplements and organic foods to achieve optimum health and regular exercise and massage to achieve life balance and happiness.

"I believe in moderation in everything I do - to strike a balance between work life, home life, social life and personal development is the ultimate challenge for anyone living in today's society!"

"Educating our clients is so important - “ why they have become unwell - and supplements, foods and lifestyle strategies to use to become well and stay well."

"In the clinic I have the flexibility to mix herbs and create a natural medicine specifically for the person I am treating"

Jacqui Volpe
Jacqui completed a Diploma of Remedial Massage in 2003. She is a member of the Australian Association of Massage Therapists (AAMT). On a visit to Italy to see her husband's family she was inspired by an aunty who had been massaging locals in her village for over 40 years. Although well into her 80's she continues to treat the villagers today. On returning home Jacqui was drawn to study remedial massage because it is a "hands-on"therapy that can directly and immediately help people feel better.

"I get a great deal of satisfaction from being able to help people find relief from the pains and tensions generated by the activities of everyday living and working as well on the aches and injuries that arise from sports and recreational pursuits."
